You can fit into the condo lifestyle, but you can’t always make your current lifestyle fit with condo living. Compared to living in a single home, an apartment, or any other type of housing that is not in a large building, the lifestyle is quite different in condos-especially in the big cities. And before you make such a hefty investment in a condo unit for sale, you should think about whether the lifestyle is right for you.

That said, we’ve come up with several signs that may mean that you’ll fit well in the condo lifestyle:

1. You don’t mind small spaces

Condominium units are generally smaller than regular apartments or houses. The average size of a condo in the country is around 50 square meters, and most units are studio type or have only one bedroom. Unless you are willing to shell out a few million more for a bigger space, then you will most likely be living in a small or medium-sized unit.

If you don’t mind the limited living space, then you’ll fit right into the condo lifestyle. Most condo dwellers use certain strategies to make their units seem bigger than they really are, such as installing mirrors or using space-saving furniture, so there are many ways you can make do with limited space.

2. You love the city life

Living in the city is much less stressful if you have a condo, which is primarily designed to make city living as convenient as possible. However, this doesn’t take away the fact that you are constantly surrounded by the hustle and bustle, have to deal with traffic regularly, and encounter dozens of people nearly every day. On the flip side, you can also enjoy the benefits of city life, such as having easy access to entertainment, food sources, and, of course, work.

If the pros of city life greatly outweigh the cons for you, then buying a condo is likely the next best step.

3. You are sociable

Everyone has differing sizes of social batteries, and if yours is particularly larger, then it’s a good sign that the condo lifestyle is right for you. Why? Because if you live in a condo, you likely have to encounter many people every day, right from the moment you walk down the lobby up to when you go to the recreational areas to wind down. So, if you are a sociable type of person and don’t mind encountering your neighbors regularly, you will most likely find condo living very enjoyable.

4. You are single or have a small family

In general, condo life is most ideal for single people, couples, or three-person families. Unless the condo has more than one bedroom, it is not an ideal place to raise a family with more than four people.

A regular studio-type or one-bedroom unit has just enough space for one to three people. If your household is bigger, it is highly advisable that you get a bigger unit to allow for adequate space and privacy for each person.

5. You don’t like maintenance

When you become a condo owner, you will still have to maintain the inside of your condo except for matters within the management’s scope (e.g., central ventilation, plumbing, etc.). What you don’t have to worry about at all is outside maintenance. So, if you hate cutting grass, watering plants, or cleaning the driveway, then the condo lifestyle is perfect for you.

6. You travel a lot

If you are a frequent traveler and don’t spend much time at home, a condo can be a great choice-much better than a standalone house or an apartment. In a condo, you won’t have to worry much about someone breaking into your unit while you’re away because the building has security personnel. Furthermore, a condo unit is generally easier to rent out when you have to leave it for long periods of time while traveling.

7. You work in a business district

If you live a good distance away from the office, the exhaustion from traveling back and forth every day can easily take a toll on your health. As opposed to when you live in a condo nearby, you can cut down your daily commute to mere minutes and enjoy sleeping in, cooking breakfast, meeting up with friends, and doing other things more important than sitting in traffic.

Living in a condo is not the perfect lifestyle for everybody. But if these signs apply to you, it’s a clear indication that the condo life will merge well with your current lifestyle.
