In India 69.29% of villagers still lack access of electricity. To help tackle this challenge, GVP supports small entrepreneurs in establishing renewable energy business that bring solar to last mile customers
Combining a small solar panel with a storage battery and energy efficient LED lights creates a very affordable lighting solution for rural off grid households in India, Kenya and Tanzania. Millions of these lanterns and small solar home systems have been sold in recent years, improving the lives of families all over the developing world.
A small village near Gonda (200 km far from Capital of Uttar Pradesh), People having less or no electricity access. One village leader has a tiny generator that lights one flickering bulb. the closest place to charge mobile phones is 20 minutes far from there.Second face of the coin is villagers are not able to buy much higher electricity options.
These are two examples of the “Last-Mile” customers, Low income, often remote, and unlikely to see grid power any time soon, where GVP works.
This challenge is for all across India where power is needed but people are not much economical sounder to buy this or sometimes providing power through grid is not possible ( This case is for hill areas). The challenge of electricity access is huge, but it also presents a great opportunity to create transformational change on the rural part of India. There are over 20 million households without access to any kind of power. However, renewable energy is increasingly a positive disrupting force in India’s energy sector and, globally, solar is leading the charge.
